On November 9 the SCANIA-HIGER new luxury coach manufacturing plant was officially put into operation, marking a new milestone in the history of HIGER. With a total investment of 200 million RMB, the new factory covers an area of 22,004 square meters and is able to manufacture 1,000-plus units per year.
The inauguration ceremony counted with the presence of SCANIA President and CEO Mr. Henrik Heriksson among other top executives from the Swedish company and the Consul General of Sweden Ms. Lisette Lindahl.
Mr. Wu Qingwen, Deputy Secretary of the Suzhou CPC Municipal Committee and Vice Mayor of Suzhou, also attended the ceremony together with other senior officials from SIP Government. Mr. Huang Shuping, General Manager of Higer Bus Company Limited, and Mr. Xie Siyu, Chairman of King Long Motor Group, also participated in the ceremony with other senior representatives.
During the ceremony, Mr. Huang and the Senior Vice President of SCANIA Buses and Coaches Division Mrs. Karin Rådström signed an agreement for in-depth cooperation which ushers a new era of cooperation for the two parties. After the signature, the ceremonial ribbon cutting was completed by the guests.
In 2007, HIGER officially signed an agreement for strategic cooperation with SCANIA. From just a single production line to a whole new factory, SCANIA-HIGER has accomplished several transformations. As of 2015, the number of SCANIA-HIGER luxury coaches reached 2,035 units across the world. To date, SCANIA-HIGER luxury coaches have successfully made their way to over 40 countries and regions across the world, including UK, France, Belgium, Germany, and Australia. It is now one of the leading brands from China in the overseas high-end bus market.
